Tonight we went to a lovely Southern country wedding. The bride is one of my daughter's friends and they work together. My daughter had helped with a lot of the decorating and flowers so she wanted me to see it all. I was glad I went.
It was the usual the mother's are seated and the grandmother's. The grandmother's are quite shaky and are escorted by the ushers. One of them almost doesn't make it to her seat as the usher lets go of her arm a little too soon. Another man grabs her arm just in time to get her in the seat safely.
So here comes the wedding party and then the Bride. She is beautiful more beautiful than I have ever seen her. Her dress is stunning and her hair is perfect. The Groom is smiling ear to ear. He knows he is one lucky man. As she makes her entrance everyone begins to stand. I am thinking about those two sweet little Grandmother's over there. I am hoping they won't struggle to stand. They didn't struggle to stand they rose with great pride. This was their Granddaughter's wedding and they weren't going to be the only ones left sitting. I was so proud of these two lovely ladies that I could have cried. I hope that by the time my Grandchildren wed I will be standing proud to watch.
Maybe it is because I am going to be a Grandmother soon, but this touched me so deeply. Grandmother's are such special people and I loved mine so much. She lived to be 100 and she was a strong proud woman too.
